OUR VISION is to enable the people of the Chocó - Andean Corridor, one of the earth’s top five high-biodiversity regions, to be able to thrive in harmony with nature.
We have embarked on a journey to create a sustainable institution based on sound business and ecological principles. We are creating a two-part-structure hybrid organization that consists of a for-profit and a traditional non-profit (or as we prefer “for-purpose”) that function as one unit.
This structure is designed to maximize the synergistic potential of working with nature. The non-profit will continue to invest in building human and social capital. It will also invest in generating scientific discovery and understanding of complex ecological systems.
The for-profit unit seeks to establish a financially thriving resort and regenerative community in around the Maquipucuna Reserve.
This structure will help Maquipucuna answer two critical questions that have hampered other attempts to address issues of ecological conservation and sustainability:
how to demonstrate the economic value of biodiversity conservation activities in a precise and persuasive manner and
how to achieve a degree of competitive advantage in the pursuit of our triple bottom-line: profit, nature and people.
