Ecotourism 

Ecotourism is one of Maquipucuna’s major initiatives for funding the protection of the Maquipucuna Reserve and for creating sustainable employment opportunities for neighboring communities since 1989.

Maquipucuna’s ecotourism program is community based, so in addition to the Maquipucuna Lodge, which employs  people from neighboring Santa Marianita, Maquipucuna has supported two other communities Yunguilla and Santa Lucía, to embark in their own Ecotourism-related projects and supports Playa de Oro community by organizing bookings. Over 120 families benefit from ecotourism projects initiated and supported by Maquipucuna.
