OUR STORY
In the mid 1980's, Rodrigo Ontaneda and Rebeca Justicia, a young and mission-driven couple from Ecuador were inspired to save a small piece of the tropical Andes after seeing unprecedented deforestation in the Northern-Ecuadorian cloud forest. From this desire to conserve one of the most beautiful and diverse parts of our planet, Maquipucuna was born.

WHAT WE STAND FOR
OUR VISION is to enable the people of the Chocó - Andean Corridor, one of the earth’s top five high-biodiversity regions, to be able to thrive in harmony with nature.
We have embarked on a journey to create a sustainable institution based on sound business and ecological principles — utilizing a traditionally for-profit structure, our ecolodge, to help give continuous funding to our Non-profit Fundación Maquipucuna
This creates a sustainable FOR PURPOSE relationship.
